Shark Fund is Sycamore Valley Elementary’s nonprofit education foundation, 100% funded and managed by parents for the benefit of all Sycamore Valley students. Shark Fund is an affiliate of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (
www.srvef.org).
This year, we hope to support over $225,000 in staff positions and programs with funds raised from parent donations, corporate matches, business givebacks and auction funds in partnership with PTA. The revenues we generate help bridge the gap between state and local education funding (managed by the SRV Unified School District) and what we, as a community, believe is necessary to provide high-quality educational experiences for our children.
Shark Fund requests a voluntary donation of $475 per student for the 2023-2024 school year.
- 100% of your donation will be used to directly benefit Sycamore Valley Elementary students.
- Shark Fund’s suggested donation amount is one of the lowest in the district due primarily to the high participation rate of families who have contributed to Shark Fund in past years.
- This voluntary donation can be amplified through corporate matching by employers.
- Donations are fully tax-deductible. Shark Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID #94-3390401).
Donations from Sycamore families made during registration will help us raise roughly half of the funds spent on programs for the school year. We are committed to funding the following paid staff positions for the 2023-2024 school year:
- Trained paraeducators in every classroom to assist teachers with small group instruction
- Weekly library visits for all students to support and enhance literacy education (the district provides funding for visits every other week)
- Rainbow Room program to support social development for grades TK-3
- Reading intervention programs to support literacy for grades TK-5
- Twice weekly physical education for grades TK-K
- Supplemental office hours to support school administrators and all staff
Corporate matching gifts: When an employee donates, they can request a matching gift from their employer, who then makes their own donation. Companies usually match donations at a 1:1 ratio, but some will match at a 2:1, 3:1, or even a 4:1 ratio. Please check to see if your employer supports corporate matching to maximize your donation!

INSTALLMENT PLAN OPTION: Parents may divide their Shark Fund donation into four equal monthly payments. If you choose this option, the first installment is paid at checkout and the remaining installments are automatically charged in subsequent months. (For example: checking the Donate in 4 Monthly Installments box for one (1) student on June 1st would result in a payment of $100 on June 1st at checkout, and then a $100 payment on each of July 1st, August 1st, and September 1st.)
